The Brave Natives on tour diary: Diesel Fall Winter ‘11 menswear collection This is the story of a boy that goes to college. He spends afternoons playing music in his bedroom, dreaming of freedom. It’s only a question of time: one day, deep in his heart he knows he will be touring with The Brave Natives. When the dream comes true, he’ll travel the world streets to define the beginning of a rock and roll story.

Cotton flannels, with baseball hats and chunky cardigans, are the starting point for the young rockstar starring in the first story of Diesel FW ‘11 collection. Colours such as camel, royal blue, purple and yellow set the tone for a new music genre. T-shirts and prints feature raw, hand-crafted graphics borrowed from the language of punk, indie and electro flyers and album art.

Stardom is a pleasant side effect that the life of a musician brings along: the second story tells us about groupies, drinks and crazy nights. But no worries, with our treated soft lamb leather jackets and Shearling coats available in indigo-grey and black-amarelle green we will never loose the Diesel-ness.

When the tour starts, the band wears chunky knitwear. Parker jackets with big 3D pockets, detailed with bullet holders, capes with skulls and guitars are the outcome of a military and hunting inspiration that emphasize the manhood of the collection.

What about 5-pockets? Yes, we have it! Diesel goes a bit preppy in FW’11 by introducing stretch non-denim 5-pocket, also known as Chino’s. But Diesel denim remains a genre by itself: Dirty New Age builds on Diesel’s long-term expertise in the field of purposeful grubbiness. This season, “Evergreen” washes include nature-inspired dyes used to reach a supernatural result (think grass, with mystical effects), and are introducing a new band member: BRADDOM, a 7-pockets jean with a regular slim fit, born in Diesel in FW‘11. For Blue Eyecons, a brand new work of art is the Quadrodenim, which combines Tencel fabric and Organic cotton on the warp with a weft made by recycled cotton and polyester. Not to forget the Turbodenim innovation allowing you to adapt the jean to your body and make it a real vintage piece in just 30 days!

Accessories seem to be coming straight from a rock and roll concert stage, including metal studded belts, hunter caps with fur, rice stitched scarves, jacquard embellished with skulls and soft leather bags ready to be left backstage. The painted studs on the belts are paired with combat boots and the most authentic worker boot in thick cow suede. The used effect achieved through hand made waxing treatments, create an instant vintage look, while the branded stabilizer and the Mohican patch give the shoe a distinctive identity.

Diesel FW ‘11 collection has all you need to bring in a tour bus: just pack it with a bit of wildness, add a pinch of idealism and a guitar, then sit back, relax and sing along.

Making the world to her personalized stage, the Diesel woman is a rockstar, a DJ, a performer: her band is The Brave Natives, on tour all over the world from FW’11. Picturing the past in the future, Diesel reinterprets this diva’s “rockability”: the melody revolves around draped indigo dresses, graphic printed t-shirts, biker jackets becoming dresses, to emphasize the idea of mixing and remixing. Denim, leather, mesh, canvas and knit are cross faded with one another, overlaid with rich experimental treatments to give products the sensation they have survived at least one rock star life.

Indigo yarn (like denim) with a ‘marble wash’ (made with stones that have been dipped in bleach) transform jersey dresses into the vintage piece you always looked for. The sweat dress is treated with a thick layer of dies blotched on the reverse side enabling the uniqueness of each garment. The hand crochet, beaded dress, turns each song into an epic moment of your life.

While the color palette ranges from indigo, grey, black to military green and burgundy, the super chunky knitwear serve as hybrid jackets, offering comfort for the cozy winter, as well as the sheepskin, hand sponged with colored dye. Studded belts mixed with canvas and leather, knitted accessories as well as leggings treated with print, pigment, graphic and bad dye are shaping the collection.

A rockstar outfit is not complete without a selection of 5-pockets, that’s why Diesel introduces the revolutionary Divinely Stretch story: the perfect fit combined with the softest touch of the denim universe. Visually outstanding, whether you choose the Divinely Resin or the Overdyed Stretch denim with a truly 80’s marble wash finishing. The hand-pressed Shiny Chics are an alternative for glitters: sophisticated washes and glue spray ensure to shine like a star.
